Bible Verse
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NLT
Love is patient and kind.
Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude.
Love does not demand its own way.
Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged.
It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
Love will last forever...
And here is how the same passage reads in the KJV:
Charity suffereth long, and is kind;
charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly,
seeketh not her own,
is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Charity never faileth: ...
Reflection
Love that suffers long and remains kind is not something we can manufacture on our own. It is the work of Christ formed within us — a love that does not rush, does not insist, does not keep score. When Paul describes this love, he is describing the very heart of God. As we move through this day, may we let His patient, enduring love shape the way we see, speak, and respond. Not striving, but yielding — letting His love become our way of walking in the world.
Prayer
Lord,
Your love suffereth long and is kind.
Shape my heart to love in the same patient, steady way,
reflecting Your grace in all I do.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Rest in the love that never fails.
