April 13: Psalm 55:22 — Shared (Today's Reading: My Utmost For His Highest)

Psalm 55:22
"Cast your burden on the Lord..."

Two sets of footprints walking side by side across smooth sand, continuing together into the distance.

Some burdens are never meant to be carried alone.
Scripture makes a clear distinction: there are burdens that belong to us, and there are burdens that do not.

We are never meant to carry the weight of sin, doubt, or self‑condemnation.
But there are other burdens God does place on us — responsibilities, callings, assignments, people we are meant to love and serve. These are not meant to crush us. They are meant to be shared.

Chambers says “cast your burden,” not throw it away, not ignore it, not pretend it isn’t heavy — but roll it back onto the One who gave it.

When we try to serve God without staying in close fellowship with Him, the responsibility becomes overwhelming. The work becomes heavier than our strength. The calling becomes something we try to manage in our own power. And that is where defeat begins.

Many people start with courage and sincerity.
But without intimacy with Jesus, the burden becomes weariness and comes to a sad ending

The problem isn’t the burden.
The problem is carrying it alone.

“Cast your burden on the Lord…”
Place one end of it on His shoulder.
Isaiah says, “the government will be upon His shoulder.”
If He can carry the weight of the world, He can carry the weight of what He has assigned to you.

Don’t discard the burden — it is still yours to walk with.
But put it on Him, and put yourself there with it.
You will find the weight changes when you are no longer carrying it alone.

The burden stays.
The crushing pressure does not.

Prayer
Lord, You know the burdens I carry.
Teach me to place every care in its rightful place —
the ones You assigned in my hands,
and the ones too heavy on Your shoulder.
Keep me in fellowship with You so the work never becomes mine alone.
Strengthen me with Your life, steady me with Your peace,
and walk with me in all You have given me to do.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

Breath Prayer
Inhale: You carry what I cannot.
Exhale: I rest it on Your shoulder.

Cast your cares upon the Lord.

Present (John 14:9)

Today's Reading: My Utmost for His Highest Devotional of the Day — Home Page John 14:9 "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip?" ...He that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Philip stood in front of Jesus and still asked to see the Father. Jesus told him that seeing Him was seeing the Father. God was right there, and Philip didn’t recognize Him. We are the same way. God is with us, guiding us, steadying us, revealing Himself in quiet ways — yet we often look for something dramatic. Faith is trusting the God we cannot see, the God who is already here.   Philip wasn't asking out of rebellion.  Philip was asking out of longing — the same longing we feel. But Jesus’ response reveals something deeper:  “Have I been with you so long, and you still don’t know Me?” We want to see God with our eyes, hear Him with our ears, and sense His nearness the way we sense another person in the room. Meaning of Forgiveness: Key Bible Verses, Jesus' Command to Forgive, How to Forgive, and a Prayer

Devotional of the Day — Home Page Summary:  Meaning of Forgiveness Forgiveness is at the center of the gospel — Jesus commands it, models it, and makes it possible through His sacrifice. We are forgiven of every sin, even those not yet committed, and invited to receive His grace with childlike humility. Because God has forgiven us so completely, we are called to release grudges, let go of past hurts, and forgive others from the heart. Forgiveness does not require confronting anyone; it is a private act between you and God, a cleansing that frees your spirit. When forgiveness feels impossible, we can lay our pain at His feet and ask Him to remove the bitterness we cannot overcome alone. Sometimes the hardest forgiveness is toward ourselves, but Jesus meets us there too. God invites us to surrender every burden and receive His healing grace. Dec 2: 1 Peter 5:7 Do Not Worry (Daily Verse & Prayer)

Devotional of the Day — Home Page 1 Peter 5:7 "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you ." — KJV Worry has a way of creeping into our hearts, especially when life feels uncertain. Yet this verse reminds us that we are not meant to carry the weight alone. God’s care is not distant or abstract — it is personal, tender, and constant. Every detail of our lives matters to Him. When we release our burdens into His hands, we exchange anxiety for peace. It doesn’t mean the challenges disappear, but it does mean we walk through them with courage, knowi ng the Lord is holding us steady. Today, let us practice surrender by naming our worries and laying them before Him, trusting His love to carry what we cannot. Prayer Father, I lay my worries at Your feet.  Please give me calm for my mind and courage for my work, and remind me -   You hold every detail.  In Jesus' precious, holy name I pray, Amen.  I pray your day be free from worry and your mind calm, ~ Quil ...
