April 22: 2 Corinthians 3:18 — Look To Him (Today's Reading: My Utmost for His Highest)

2 Corinthians 3:18
“We all, with unveiled face, beholding…the glory of the Lord…”

A narrow forest path with soft natural light filtering through tall trees.

There are seasons when the Lord allows the lights around us to fade. People who once encouraged us grow quiet. Those who once stood beside us drift away. It feels like loss, but it is actually God’s mercy. He is teaching us to build our faith on the One who never leaves, never dims, and never fails.

When the familiar lights go out, we learn to look directly to Him. Not to people. Not to support systems. Not to the voices we once leaned on. We learn to look into the face of God for ourselves — for truth, for direction, for strength, and for the steadying of our inner life.

This is where real growth happens.
This is where faith becomes personal.
This is where the servant’s life is formed.

A Christian does not live by borrowed light. We live by beholding Him. And when we look to Him first — before speaking, before responding, before teaching, before deciding — something quiet and real begins to take shape inside us. His steadiness becomes ours. His peace settles our reactions. His presence becomes the anchor we return to again and again.

We rarely notice the change while it’s happening. Moses didn’t know his face shone. We don’t see the work God is doing in us — but others do. The transformation is His, not ours.

If you have doubts about anything, take them to God. Don't carry them out front. Don't let them become your headline or identity. Doubt doesn't need to be the loudest thing in your life — God does. And when doubt rises, we take it to God — not because we fear it, but because we refuse to let it speak louder than His truth.

And this is the truth: When I doubt myself, I am not being humble — I am forgetting the truth. Self is dead. It has no authority to speak over my calling, my worth, or my obedience. So when I question whether I am “qualified,” I am not doubting my ability; I am doubting the God who lives in me. And that does not honor Him. He is the One who gives the power, the wisdom, the strength, and the words. My confidence is not in me — it is in the Life that replaced me. Doubt belongs to the old self, and the old self is gone. So I choose to trust the One who called me, because His authority is the only authority that matters.

And we are not called to justify our spiritual life or make it a performance. Our inner life is lived before God, and what overflows from that is what we share. We stay in tune with Him — quietly, faithfully, continually. That is the secret of a servant’s life: a heart turned toward God, no matter who stands with us or who walks away.

People may come and go, but the Light that never fails remains. Look to Him first. Look to Him continually. Look to Him with a steady heart, and you will never be without direction.

“Lord, turn my eyes toward You alone.
Steady me in the light that never fades.”

Breath Prayer
Help me look to You first…
Steady me in Your truth

He is the Light that never fails, and I choose to behold Him.

Present (John 14:9)

Today's Reading: My Utmost for His Highest Devotional of the Day — Home Page John 14:9 "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip?" ...He that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Philip stood in front of Jesus and still asked to see the Father. Jesus told him that seeing Him was seeing the Father. God was right there, and Philip didn’t recognize Him. We are the same way. God is with us, guiding us, steadying us, revealing Himself in quiet ways — yet we often look for something dramatic. Faith is trusting the God we cannot see, the God who is already here.   Philip wasn't asking out of rebellion.  Philip was asking out of longing — the same longing we feel. But Jesus’ response reveals something deeper:  “Have I been with you so long, and you still don’t know Me?” We want to see God with our eyes, hear Him with our ears, and sense His nearness the way we sense another person in the room. That is hum...

Meaning of Forgiveness: Key Bible Verses, Jesus' Command to Forgive, How to Forgive, and a Prayer

Devotional of the Day — Home Page Summary:  Meaning of Forgiveness Forgiveness is at the center of the gospel — Jesus commands it, models it, and makes it possible through His sacrifice. We are forgiven of every sin, even those not yet committed, and invited to receive His grace with childlike humility. Because God has forgiven us so completely, we are called to release grudges, let go of past hurts, and forgive others from the heart. Forgiveness does not require confronting anyone; it is a private act between you and God, a cleansing that frees your spirit. When forgiveness feels impossible, we can lay our pain at His feet and ask Him to remove the bitterness we cannot overcome alone. Sometimes the hardest forgiveness is toward ourselves, but Jesus meets us there too. God invites us to surrender every burden and receive His healing grace. Dec 2: 1 Peter 5:7 Do Not Worry (Daily Verse & Prayer)

Devotional of the Day — Home Page 1 Peter 5:7 "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you ." — KJV Worry has a way of creeping into our hearts, especially when life feels uncertain. Yet this verse reminds us that we are not meant to carry the weight alone. God’s care is not distant or abstract — it is personal, tender, and constant. Every detail of our lives matters to Him. When we release our burdens into His hands, we exchange anxiety for peace. It doesn’t mean the challenges disappear, but it does mean we walk through them with courage, knowi ng the Lord is holding us steady. Today, let us practice surrender by naming our worries and laying them before Him, trusting His love to carry what we cannot. Prayer Father, I lay my worries at Your feet.  Please give me calm for my mind and courage for my work, and remind me -   You hold every detail.  In Jesus' precious, holy name I pray, Amen.  I pray your day be free from worry and your mind calm, ~ Quil ...
