When Jesus Becomes Real

The Quill and Me—Devotional Blog•Oswald Chambers Reflections Today's Devotional • Back to Home Page Apr 9 Today's Reflection from My Utmost for His Highest Mark 16:12 "After that, He appeared in another form to two of them ..." When Jesus Becomes Real There is a difference between being saved and actually seeing Jesus. Many people belong to Him, trust Him, and walk with Him without ever having a moment where He becomes unmistakably real to them. But once you have seen Him — truly seen Him — nothing else in life holds the same weight it once did. Seeing Jesus is not the same as remembering what He has done for you. His gifts, His help, His mercy — those are blessings, but they are not the same as seeing Him. If all we ever see is what He does, our view of God stays small. But when He reveals Himself — when He lets you see Him as He really is — everything changes. Life may rise and fall around you, but you remain steady because He has become real to you — real enough ...

Feb 29: Psalm 119:18 - Wonder (Daily Verse & Prayer)

The Quill and Me—Devotional Blog•Oswald Chambers Reflections Today's Devotional • Back to Home Page Bible Verse Psalm 119:18 "Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Your law." Reflection Some days feel like borrowed days—unexpected, extra, not part of the usual count. February 29 is one of them. It comes rarely, quietly, and only when the calendar makes room for it. In the same way, God sometimes gives us moments that feel outside the ordinary rhythm of our lives. They are not loud or dramatic. They are simply invitations to see something we would have missed if the day had not been given. This verse from the psalmist is a prayer for sight—not physical sight, but the kind that awakens the heart. It is the request to see God’s goodness where we have grown dull, to notice His nearness where we have grown hurried, and to behold His wonders where we have grown tired. On this rare day, let the prayer be simple: Open my eyes again. Open them to Your presence. Op...

February 10: Isaiah 40:26 - Lift Your Eyes To See God (Today's Reflection from My Utmost For His Highest)

Bible Verse Isaiah 40:26 KJV "Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth." ("Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out one after another, calling each by its name. And he counts them to see that none are lost or have strayed away." ) (NLT) Reflection Isaiah calls God’s people to look up — to lift their eyes beyond the idols that have narrowed their vision and dulled their hearts. It is a startling reminder that spiritual blindness rarely begins with rebellion. It begins with distraction. With misplaced focus. With letting lesser things take the place of the One who made the heavens. Chambers presses this truth into us: our ability to see God is shaped by where we choose to look. When our thoughts circle around ourselves — our work, our expectations, our ideas of wha...
