John’s joy was not in being important, admired, or needed. His joy was in pointing people to Jesus and then stepping back so they could hear Him for themselves. That is what “He must increase, but I must decrease” means. It is not about disappearing or becoming worthless. It is about not becoming the center of someone else’s spiritual life. Chambers warns that when someone is close to turning toward Christ—whether for salvation or for deeper surrender—we often rush in to “help,” and in doing so, we accidentally take God’s place. Daily Bible Verse: 1 Corinthians 1:17 "Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel..."  Paul understood something very simple: God called him to lift up Jesus — not to focus on himself, not to track his spiritual progress, and not to make his own experiences the center of the story. When Paul talked about preaching “the gospel,” he meant sharing the truth about redemption — the fact that Jesus paid the price to bring us back to God, forgive our sins, and make us His again. Redemption is Jesus rescuing us and restoring us. It’s the whole work He did on the cross, not just the moment we first believed. We often mix this up. To call the Lord our Shepherd is to acknowledge His care, His guidance, and His provision. Just as a shepherd watches over every sheep, the Lord watches over us with unfailing love. We may feel lacking at times, but in His presence we discover that we truly have everything we need. The lavender sky over the lavender field is a picture of peace and abundance. It reminds us that God’s provision is not only practical but also beautiful — He gives us rest for our souls and joy for our hearts. Today, let us walk in trust, knowing that the Shepherd of our lives will lead us faithfully.
