"It came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven"
Jesus took Peter, James, and John up on a high mountain to pray. While He prayed, they fell asleep. When they awoke, they saw Jesus transfigured before them—His face shining, His garments radiant and white as snow. Moses and Elijah appeared and spoke with Him about the death He would accomplish in Jerusalem. As the disciples watched in awe, a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came from the cloud saying, “This is My Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him.”
This moment is recorded in Matthew 17:1–8, Mark 9:2–8, and Luke 9:28–36.
From that point forward, everything Jesus did, He did on our behalf. He is our Redeemer.
During the Passover in Jerusalem, Jesus—the Lamb of God—took upon Himself our sin, our judgment, and our death. He bore what we could never bear. As a human being, He endured the pain and suffering that rightfully belonged to us.
When Jesus rose from the tomb, He rose bodily. Not as a spirit or an apparition, but as flesh and bone. When He appeared among His disciples, He asked for food; they gave Him broiled fish and honeycomb, and He ate in their presence.
After spending time with them, He led them toward Bethany. Lifting His hands, He blessed them—and while blessing them, He ascended into Heaven. This is the Ascension depicted above, and in Acts 1:9–11, where angels appeared to those watching Him rise.
Jesus ascended as the Son of Man—fully human—and as the Son of God—fully divine. His willing sacrifice on the Cross, the tearing of the temple veil, His life given for all humanity… all of it was done for us. The sinless One became sin, suffered, and died in our place. His surrender in Gethsemane opened a direct way for us to approach the throne of God.
The Transfiguration revealed His glory. He could have returned to Heaven then, without suffering. Instead, He chose to remain, to stand in our place, and to complete the work of redemption.
Today, there is a human Jesus seated on the throne in Heaven at the right hand of God Almighty, interceding for us. He understands our weaknesses. He knows our pain.
We pray in His name because He is our High Priest.
He is our access to El Shaddai—God Almighty.
By His blood our sins are forgiven.
By His wounds we are healed.
He is Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals.
He is the King of kings and Lord of lords.
Believing in Jesus as the Son of God is not merely about salvation. Our Abba Father—our intimate Father—is Yahweh, the Eternal I AM.
The Holy Spirit dwells within us.
The Holy Ghost is the very nature of Christ living in us.
The Comforter abides with us forever.
As we surrender to Him, the Holy Spirit works powerfully within us. His nature shapes us, transforms us, and allows Christ to shine through us. Our part is simple: obey His promptings.
Jesus surrendered His will in Gethsemane for us.
We surrender our lives to His Spirit within us.
And in that surrender, we gain His life.
Jesus is with us when we wake.
He walks with us as we walk.
He is present wherever we go.
He is here—now.
He never leaves once He enters.
The very power of the Most High God dwells within you.
This truth is monumental: Jesus died so that we may have life—everlasting and abundant.
Do not shrink back from the life of Christ within you.
Let His nature grow in you until it transforms everything.
Stand on the promises of God Almighty and know deep within that Jesus is real and He is within you.
The Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us in His full power. He moves in fullness when we surrender our will in prayer, just as Jesus surrendered His will in Gethsemane.
Think on these things.
Act on this truth.
Let it change your life.
God is inviting you to awaken to the fullness of what He has already placed within you.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
