Today's Reading: My Utmost for His Highest
Revelation 1:7
"Behold, He is coming with clouds . . ."
Remember the Lord Thy God
God uses clouds to reveal Himself. Difficult days are not signs of His absence — they are invitations to draw nearer. He is always close, but clouds make us aware of Him in ways ordinary days do not.
Because God is spirit, we do not see Him with our physical eyes. And because we do not see Him, we tend to forget Him. "Out of sight, out of mind" is a very true saying. But when trouble comes, something inside us wakes up. We remember Him. We call on Him. We look for Him. Not because He moved closer, but because our awareness finally turned toward Him.
Deuteronomy 8:18 "But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God"
We should be thinking about Him all the time, not only when we need something. But I lived the other way for 68 years. I do not dwell on my past, but it breaks my heart to know it.
The message today is about the clouds in your life — the difficult circumstances, the sorrows, the sufferings. These are the places where we learn to walk by faith. We learn to depend on Him even though we cannot see Him or touch Him. In these cloudy moments, He is revealing Himself. If we would simply be aware of His presence, we would notice Him standing right there.
Although He is always near, we tend not to become aware of Him until we call on Him. Our God is acquainted with grief. He became flesh and walked among men, and we knew Him not. He was crucified because His light exposed the darkness of man. Yet He came for a purpose — to make a way for us to be reunited with Him.
God wants unblemished souls. He wants sons and daughters surrounding Him into eternity. He does not want to be alone. So He made a way for us to become holy — a way for us to enter heaven. When we accept Christ as Savior, He sends the Holy Ghost to indwell us, making us holy and acceptable in His sight.
Without this connection, none of us would be able to enter heaven. But He has a plan for us. He has a place for us. He wants us to be part of His family. He is here. He is near. Call on Him all the time — not only when a cloud passes over your life.
