Jun 12: John 1:38-39 — Abiding Saints — (Today's Reading: My Utmost for His Highest)

A pair of closed wooden double doors with bright golden light shining through the narrow gap, forming a glowing cross shape that illuminates the dark room.

John 1:38-39
"They said to Him, 'Rabbi . . . where are You staying?'
He said to them, 'Come and see'"

Jesus said, "Come and see." Come and see where I am staying, where I abide...My abode. And they went and stayed with Him for a while. That is all — a short time — then their self-interests rose and they departed. That is what we do:  we stay with Jesus for a little while, and then we move on to our self-interests.

Jesus never left the Father. He was in constant contact with His heavenly Father no matter what was going on around Him here on earth. We have the ability to do the same thing — to abide with God all the time, no matter what we are doing or where we are.

Our inner world is where we abide with God. Our spiritual world is a world untouched by this earthly place. Therefore, we can abide with God at all times. There is no circumstance in life where you cannot abide with God. The Holy Spirit lives within you; you can abide with Him 24/7.

Jesus gives everyone that stays with Him a new name. He writes that new name on the places in our lives where He has erased pride, self-sufficiency, and self-interest. Some of us only have our new name written in certain places, and when we are in the right mood you would think we are quality saints. But do not find us when we are not in that mood. A true disciple has his new name written all over him — because self-interest, pride, and self-sufficiency have been completely eradicated from his life.

A saint is anyone who has been saved — anyone who has accepted Christ as their Savior. In the Holy Bible, every believer is called a saint.

A disciple is a surrendered saint — someone who has surrendered completely to God.

Making "self" a god in our life is the sin of pride. Pride causes us to say, "Oh, I'm not a saint"... but that statement is an unconscious denial of God's ability to make you a saint. It is acceptable by human standards, but not by God's. Do you think you are not a saint? God says if you belong to Him... you are a saint.

Saints come in all shapes and stages of life. You do not have to be perfect to be a saint. All of God's children are saints. Do not limit God. Do not put conditions on your life. God can do anything. Let Jesus be everything to you and He will take you home with Him — not just for a little while... but for all time.

Prayer
Lord, You see all of Your saints.
We are like little ants running around... always busy.
Help us to be still and quiet and know that You are God.

There is no limit to Your ability to provide for us.
There is no limit to Your power, Your love, or Your care of us.
There is no limit to Your forgiveness, mercy, or grace.
You are a limitless God... nothing is too hard for You.

Help us to open our hearts and receive all that You have for us.
Help us to acknowledge our sainthood.
Help us, in our lack of understanding, to know Your true nature.

To know You — the Creator — who made us in Your own image.
who made us to be saints for the glory of God.
Let us bow before You, acknowledging Your greatness...
taking in the wonder and awe of You.

And let us simply be... in Your presence for all time,
worshipping the God of ages —
the God who wants nothing more than our presence in His world,
our love for Him in His kingdom,
our fellowship with Him at His bountiful table,
our need for Him in His loving arms,
our hearts open to receive Him and all He desires to do for us and give us.

Lord, Your love is as great as You are,
Your forgiveness bigger than life itself,
Your mercy without end,
Your love without limit.
Help us all to believe this about You.

The ability to make us saints and disciples is in Your hands.
You draw us to You.
You choose us.
You say, "Ask and you will receive. Knock, and the door will be opened,"
and then You gather us into Your abode.
Help us to see this invitation for what it is —
You wanting us.
You want us, Lord... and You want us to want You.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

Our minds cannot comprehend the greatness of our own God,
He is too magnificent for words... I am in awe and speechless before Him.
Selah.

Present (John 14:9)

Today's Reading: My Utmost for His Highest Devotional of the Day — Home Page John 14:9 "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip?" ...He that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Philip stood in front of Jesus and still asked to see the Father. Jesus told him that seeing Him was seeing the Father. God was right there, and Philip didn’t recognize Him. We are the same way. God is with us, guiding us, steadying us, revealing Himself in quiet ways — yet we often look for something dramatic. Faith is trusting the God we cannot see, the God who is already here.   Philip wasn't asking out of rebellion.  Philip was asking out of longing — the same longing we feel. But Jesus’ response reveals something deeper:  “Have I been with you so long, and you still don’t know Me?” We want to see God with our eyes, hear Him with our ears, and sense His nearness the way we sense another person in the room. Meaning of Forgiveness: Key Bible Verses, Jesus' Command to Forgive, How to Forgive, and a Prayer

Devotional of the Day — Home Page Summary:  Meaning of Forgiveness Forgiveness is at the center of the gospel — Jesus commands it, models it, and makes it possible through His sacrifice. We are forgiven of every sin, even those not yet committed, and invited to receive His grace with childlike humility. Because God has forgiven us so completely, we are called to release grudges, let go of past hurts, and forgive others from the heart. Forgiveness does not require confronting anyone; it is a private act between you and God, a cleansing that frees your spirit. When forgiveness feels impossible, we can lay our pain at His feet and ask Him to remove the bitterness we cannot overcome alone. Sometimes the hardest forgiveness is toward ourselves, but Jesus meets us there too. God invites us to surrender every burden and receive His healing grace. Dec 2: 1 Peter 5:7 Do Not Worry (Daily Verse & Prayer)

Devotional of the Day — Home Page 1 Peter 5:7 "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you ." — KJV Worry has a way of creeping into our hearts, especially when life feels uncertain. Yet this verse reminds us that we are not meant to carry the weight alone. God’s care is not distant or abstract — it is personal, tender, and constant. Every detail of our lives matters to Him. When we release our burdens into His hands, we exchange anxiety for peace. It doesn’t mean the challenges disappear, but it does mean we walk through them with courage, knowi ng the Lord is holding us steady. Today, let us practice surrender by naming our worries and laying them before Him, trusting His love to carry what we cannot. Prayer Father, I lay my worries at Your feet.  Please give me calm for my mind and courage for my work, and remind me -   You hold every detail.  In Jesus' precious, holy name I pray, Amen.  I pray your day be free from worry and your mind calm, ~ Quil ...
