June 20: Job 42:10 — It Is a Gift — (Today's Reading: My Utmost for His Highest)

A quiet sunrise over a grassy field with warm golden light stretching across the ground; a wooden fence runs through the scene, with a few trees standing along the fence line; the sky is softly clouded, and the peaceful morning atmosphere creates a sense of calm.

Job 42:10
"The Lord restored Job's losses when he prayed for his friends"

We are saved by the atonement of Jesus Christ. There is nothing for us to do but humbly accept His sacrifice. It is a done deal. It is a complete deal. It is a gift. It is something that causes us to feel indebted to Him. We feel like we need to do something to deserve it. We feel like we need to do something to pay for it. We feel like we need to just do something... anything... We just feel like there has got to be something that we can do — but there isn't. And when we keep going down this path... well, it is just the wrong path to go down, that's all there is to it. Stop. Turn around. Let us go back to the beginning. We accepted Christ as our Savior. He paid our bill. We could never have paid it... not ever. But it got paid, and we accepted that we had been atoned of our sins by His death for us. Period. That is it. It is done. We must accept it, graciously, and stop trying to do something.

No, we are not worthy. No, we do not deserve it. I know... wow... yeah... He loves us that much. Yeah, it makes me cry, too.

And do you know why we have to stop? Because Jesus has already done it all, and we insult Him by all of these attempts to do something. He already completely saved us. It was not half done... it was completely done.

Now, it is time to go forward. We need to pick ourselves up and thank Him. Praise Him. And bask in the glory of the Lord. We are saints now. We are also children of the Most High. And we have an inheritance with the family of God. We also have eternal life. And the Holy Spirit is within us.

The thing to do now is go forward... God is going to make things right inside of us. We cannot make ourselves right with God; we cannot make ourselves holy; we cannot do anything without God's empowerment. We cannot even continue to breathe if God does not will it to happen.

But rest assured, God takes care of His own, and we are His own. He saved us, and the Holy Spirit within us makes us holy. Now, we just trust in the Lord with all of our hearts, and in all our ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct our steps.

Chambers teaches that the next thing to do after we are saved is to pray for others to be saved. The verse reads: "God restored Job's losses when he prayed for his friends." Chambers says if we are not receiving our "hundredfold," we should begin right now to pray for the saving of others — to pray that the atonement of Christ will be recognized and fully understood in the lives of others as it has been in us. So let us pray for our friends now; pray for those that we come in contact with; let's just pray for everyone.

This is intercessory prayer. It softens our hearts, and it is where God wants us to be. God wants us involved in the work of intercessory prayer. It keeps us from thinking about ourselves and keeps our hearts in the right place spiritually.

So we are going forward; we are going to get to work on praying for others. We are saved... the Lord is going to do His work on us internally. But there are many others that are not saved... and we need to help God by praying for them. Actually, God does not need our help, but the way we think about it in human terms, we think we are helping Him. But what we are actually doing is something God wants and desires for us to do... and that is to pray for others because it is His will for us to do so. It is His desire that we participate in this spiritual activity. This is God's heart — the saving of all people. And  we join God in His work by praying for the unsaved, the lost, the wandering, the hurting, the strays, the prodigals... Let's just pray for everyone that comes to mind or enters into our heart. If we stay aligned with God's heart, we cannot go wrong.

Prayer

Lord, because You have already reconciled us to the Father, open our eyes to Your love.
Draw our hearts to Your presence and let us know the peace You've given.
Let us experience the forgiveness You already purchased for us.
Because Your blood has already opened the way for us, let us see and understand.
We praise You and thank You for Your sacrifice.
It is finished and we humbly bow before You grateful for all You have given for us.
We wonder at the love You have for us.
We acknowledge Your holiness and praise You as our Savior.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

Prayer of Intercession

Lord, we come to You in earnest, asking that You will help us pray for the lost.
Give us love in our hearts for those that are wandering.
Lord, soften our hearts to be willing to pray for others.

Lord, draw our family members' hearts.
Those that are not saved, I ask that You will knock on the doors of their hearts
and draw them gently to You.

We ask that You open the hearts of our loved ones that have let the world harden their hearts.
Soften their hearts and draw them back into Your loving arms.
We ask that You will stretch out Your hand to the companions of our loved ones and draw their hearts also. Soften and open their hearts, that they would have a desire for Your Word in their lives.

We ask for the saving of all the young souls alive in those families. Surround them with Your protection and keep them from harm. Draw their young hearts to You and keep them, Lord.

We ask that Your love would flow outward to the masses, Lord, that Your Spirit would breath on the masses of people at events and touch all the hearts there. Draw their hearts; knock on their hearts' doors. Let them know You are alive and active in this world.

We ask that Your love be poured out on the world and the people will have a desire for You in their hearts. Knock on the doors of all hearts, Lord. Draw all hearts to know You and Your love for them.

Lord, we praise You and thank You for Your love in our lives.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

Present (John 14:9)

Today's Reading: My Utmost for His Highest Devotional of the Day — Home Page John 14:9 "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip?" ...He that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Philip stood in front of Jesus and still asked to see the Father. Jesus told him that seeing Him was seeing the Father. God was right there, and Philip didn’t recognize Him. We are the same way. God is with us, guiding us, steadying us, revealing Himself in quiet ways — yet we often look for something dramatic. Faith is trusting the God we cannot see, the God who is already here.   Philip wasn't asking out of rebellion.  Philip was asking out of longing — the same longing we feel. But Jesus’ response reveals something deeper:  “Have I been with you so long, and you still don’t know Me?” We want to see God with our eyes, hear Him with our ears, and sense His nearness the way we sense another person in the room. That is hum...

Meaning of Forgiveness: Key Bible Verses, Jesus' Command to Forgive, How to Forgive, and a Prayer

Devotional of the Day — Home Page Summary:  Meaning of Forgiveness Forgiveness is at the center of the gospel — Jesus commands it, models it, and makes it possible through His sacrifice. We are forgiven of every sin, even those not yet committed, and invited to receive His grace with childlike humility. Because God has forgiven us so completely, we are called to release grudges, let go of past hurts, and forgive others from the heart. Forgiveness does not require confronting anyone; it is a private act between you and God, a cleansing that frees your spirit. When forgiveness feels impossible, we can lay our pain at His feet and ask Him to remove the bitterness we cannot overcome alone. Sometimes the hardest forgiveness is toward ourselves, but Jesus meets us there too. God invites us to surrender every burden and receive His healing grace. Dec 2: 1 Peter 5:7 Do Not Worry (Daily Verse & Prayer)

Devotional of the Day — Home Page 1 Peter 5:7 "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you ." — KJV Worry has a way of creeping into our hearts, especially when life feels uncertain. Yet this verse reminds us that we are not meant to carry the weight alone. God’s care is not distant or abstract — it is personal, tender, and constant. Every detail of our lives matters to Him. When we release our burdens into His hands, we exchange anxiety for peace. It doesn’t mean the challenges disappear, but it does mean we walk through them with courage, knowi ng the Lord is holding us steady. Today, let us practice surrender by naming our worries and laying them before Him, trusting His love to carry what we cannot. Prayer Father, I lay my worries at Your feet.  Please give me calm for my mind and courage for my work, and remind me -   You hold every detail.  In Jesus' precious, holy name I pray, Amen.  I pray your day be free from worry and your mind calm, ~ Quil ...
