“Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do.” — John 14:13
There is a quiet place in the Christian life where everything becomes simple again. Not necessarily easy — but simple. It is the place where a believer stops striving in personal strength and returns to the only source of true spiritual power: the Cross of Jesus Christ.
Chambers calls this the atonement — the finished work of Christ that opened the way for every believer to belong to God, to be forgiven, to be made clean, and to live in His presence without fear. The more this truth is embraced, the clearer it becomes that the Cross is not only the beginning of salvation… it is the center of the entire life of faith.
Whenever a believer drifts, it is because the heart has moved away from that center.
Whenever weariness sets in, it is because strength is being drawn from self instead of Christ.
Whenever prayer feels thin or powerless, it is because the source of authority has been forgotten.
But when the heart returns — even for one quiet minute — something settles.
The will bows.
The heart softens.
The spirit becomes still.
And the soul remembers: Jesus is the Source.
This is the essence of abiding.
Not striving.
Not performing.
Not trying to feel spiritual.
But turning inward toward Christ again and again throughout the day.
From this place of abiding, intercession begins to rise almost without effort.
It is a quiet joining with the heart of Jesus — praying what He is already praying.
A humble one.
Yet it bears fruit because it flows from the Cross, not from human strength.
Chambers reminds believers that the greatest power in life is not found in work, service, or sacrifice — but in the atonement of the Lord. It is not the amount of time spent doing spiritual things that shapes a person the most. It is whatever holds the greatest power over the heart.
So the call is simple:
Return to the center.
Return to the Cross.
Return to the One who intercedes for His people and invites them to join Him.
Lord, let the atonement of Christ be the quiet, steady center of the Christian life — the place to which every heart returns again and again, until all things bear fruit for Your glory.

Jesus, I abide in You,
without You I am nothing.
